What policies should the United States pursue to reduce this pollution?

When firms in Mexico cause pollution that crosses the border, U.S. residents along the border are damaged. That pollution is an external cost, since the US residents have no way to extract payment for damage from the Mexican polluters. What policies should the US pursue to reduce this pollution?

    That is a trade issue. We could take it up with Mexico as part of any trade agreements. I think they would take care of it rather than have trade reduced.

    They should get on-board with the Kyoto accord, but we all know that will never happen, IT might cost some money to make our environment safe.

    i say don’t worry about it since the Mexicans have to deal with it . its American companies over there i say we should suffer for being suckered into NAFTA to .
